Spielberg Applauds Low-Budget Hits 'Obsessed' and 'Backrooms'

Steven Spielberg, the legendary Hollywood director, has expressed his admiration for the films 'Obsessed' and 'Backrooms', which achieved remarkable box office success despite their minimal budgets. The 79-year-old filmmaker showered praise on the movies, applauding their impressive earnings.

Spielberg's Praise for Low-Budget Hits

During a recent screening of his upcoming film 'Disclosure Day', Spielberg walked the red carpet and shared his thoughts on 'Obsessed' and 'Backrooms'. In an interview with Pop Drop, he said, "I'm so happy for them. I think it's so fantastic." He went on to highlight the financial constraints of the productions: "I think it's great that they had basically very little money, especially 'Obsessed' had under USD 1 million, and the other film had maybe ten or nine, and they're doing so well, and I just applaud them."

Spielberg admitted he has not yet seen 'Backrooms' but plans to watch it once the current chaos subsides. However, he confirmed, "But I have seen 'Obsessed', and I loved it."

Upcoming Film: 'Disclosure Day'

Spielberg's own film 'Disclosure Day' is set for release on June 12, 2026. The story follows lead characters attempting to uncover a massive cover-up, revealing that humanity is not alone in the universe. Powerful shadow figures work to suppress the truth, but an incident turns the tables when a reporter begins speaking an alien language. Actress Emily Blunt, during an interview on 'Hot Ones' with Sean Evans, commented on the film's unique sounds: "You could go the AI route, which I'm a bit terrified of. I thought I could make some really strange sounds."
