Hyderabad police have registered a case against an actress for allegedly duping a software engineer of Rs 9.35 crore under the pretext of marriage. The accused, identified as a Telugu film actress, is currently absconding.

Details of the Case

The complainant, a 35-year-old techie working in the US, alleged that he met the actress through a mutual friend in 2022. They developed a relationship, and she promised to marry him. Over time, she allegedly demanded money for various purposes, including film production and personal expenses.

According to the FIR, the techie transferred Rs 9.35 crore to her accounts between 2022 and 2024. When he pressed for marriage, she allegedly avoided him and cut off contact. The victim then approached the police.

Police Investigation

Cyberabad police have booked the actress under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code. They are investigating the financial transactions and trying to trace her whereabouts. A lookout notice may be issued if she attempts to leave the country.

This is not the first such case involving celebrities in Hyderabad. Police advise verifying credentials before entering into financial commitments with strangers.
