Kochi: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has escalated its disciplinary actions by issuing show-cause notices to three more members for allegedly damaging the organization's reputation through public statements. The notices were sent to committee members Joy Mathew, Lakshmipriya, and Tini Tom, accusing them of airing internal grievances and personal disputes in the media.
Allegations of Bylaw Violations
According to AMMA office-bearers, these public statements have severely harmed the association's goodwill and breached Articles V and V(A) of its bylaws, constituting official misconduct. The committee emphasized that such grievances could have been resolved internally through proper channels rather than public forums.
Previous Notice to Ansiba Hassan
This action follows a similar show-cause notice issued on June 10, 2026, to former joint secretary and actor Ansiba Hassan. Ansiba responded immediately with a strongly worded email to the president and general secretary on the same night she received the notice. She demanded absolute clarity on which bylaws she had violated, arguing that her disputes with fellow actors Lakshmipriya and Tini Tom were personal matters and that the association had no authority to intervene in private conflicts.
Varied Responses from Members
Responses from other members have been mixed. Joy Mathew confirmed that he has submitted his reply but declined to share details, stating it remains an internal matter. Meanwhile, the friction involving Lakshmipriya has taken a legal turn. AMMA president Shweta Menon publicly clarified that Lakshmipriya's dispute is unrelated to the organization, leaving her with full rights to pursue legal remedies for criminal matters. The issue involving Tini Tom is even more serious and is currently under deep consideration by the executive committee.
