Indian-origin entrepreneur and The Apprentice winner Karishma Vijay became emotional and broke down in tears while discussing her body insecurities and mental health struggles, admitting that the pressures of a transformative year have left her exhausted.
The 29-year-old secured a £250,000 investment from Alan Sugar earlier this year for her skincare brand Kishkin after winning the popular reality show. Since then, she has moved house, expanded her business, gotten engaged, and begun planning her wedding.
In an emotional Instagram reel, Karishma confessed that despite her professional achievements, she has neglected her own wellbeing. Life may look great on social media, but the honest truth is that I am not doing very well, she said.
She described the challenge of balancing content creation, business operations, marketing campaigns, interviews, podcasts, and public appearances while building her company. The entrepreneur stated that the demands of her career have taken a toll on both her physical and mental health.
I am the heaviest I have ever been. My body is my biggest insecurity, but not because of my curves or the number on the scale. It is because I am in my 20s and I am always exhausted, she said. Karishma also reflected on a period about a year ago when she felt more confident in her body and fitness journey. She noted that the pressures of work and personal commitments gradually caused her to lose the healthy routines she had worked hard to establish.
I was showing up for myself for the first time ever, and now I am back to square one, she said. With everything going on in my life, I just do not know if I can do this all over again.
Despite her struggles, Karishma expressed her intention to prioritize her wellbeing by returning to the gym, exercising regularly, and being more intentional about her health.
The post drew an outpouring of support from followers, many of whom encouraged her to focus on herself. Please take good care of yourself first and foremost, one user wrote. Another commented: It is hard when life gets stressful, believe me. But now you need to make time for yourself.
