In an exclusive conversation, Tanmay Vekaria and Navina Wadekar, popularly recognized as Bagha and Bawri from the long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, opened up about their journey on the show, their remarkable on-screen chemistry, and memorable behind-the-scenes moments. The duo also shared insights into their close bond with veteran actor Dilip Joshi, who plays the iconic character Jethalal, and reflected on the enriching experience of working alongside him.
The Journey of Bagha and Bawri
Tanmay Vekaria, who portrays the lovable character Bagha, and Navina Wadekar, who plays his on-screen wife Bawri, have become fan favorites over the years. Their comic timing and natural camaraderie have added a unique flavor to the show. Speaking about their journey, Vekaria said, "It has been an incredible ride. The audience's love for Bagha and Bawri is overwhelming, and we owe it to the writers and our co-stars who have supported us throughout." Wadekar added, "The characters are so well-written that it becomes easy to slip into their shoes. The laughter and joy we share on set reflect in our performances."
On-Screen Chemistry and Behind-the-Scenes Memories
The duo's chemistry is often praised by fans, but they attribute it to their off-screen friendship. "We have known each other for years, and that comfort translates on screen," Vekaria noted. Wadekar recalled a funny incident: "Once, during a scene, Tanmay forgot his lines and started improvising. The entire crew burst out laughing, and we had to retake the shot multiple times." Such moments have strengthened their bond, making the set a fun workplace.
Bond with Dilip Joshi
Dilip Joshi, who plays the central character Jethalal, has been a mentor to both. "Dilip sir is like a guiding light. He always encourages us to give our best and never hesitates to share his wisdom," Vekaria said. Wadekar echoed this, saying, "Working with him is a learning experience every day. His dedication and humility inspire us." The trio shares a warm rapport, often seen joking around between shots.
As the show continues to entertain millions, Bagha and Bawri remain grateful for the opportunity. "We are blessed to be part of a show that brings smiles to so many faces. This journey is far from over, and we are excited for what lies ahead," they concluded.
