The district administration of Ballari on Friday paid tribute to Kannada icon Dr Rajkumar on his 97th birth anniversary. Floral offerings were made at his statue in Dr Rajkumar Park, in a ceremony jointly organized by the district administration, the Zilla Panchayat (ZP), and the Department of Information and Public Relations.

The event witnessed participation from officials, public representatives, and various Kannada organisations. Among the notable attendees were Lidkar chairman Mundargi Nagaraj, President of the District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority KE Chidanandappa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammed N Zuber, Assistant Commissioner Rajesh HD, Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director B Nagaraj, office bearers of Kannada organisations, ardent fans of Dr Rajkumar, and members of the public.
Speeches and Tributes
Speaking on the occasion, Mundargi Nagaraj highlighted Dr Rajkumar's immense contribution to Kannada language and culture. He recalled the actor's pivotal role in the Gokak Movement and his steadfast refusal to act in non-Kannada films. Nagaraj also emphasized the impact of films like ‘Bangarada Manushya' in inspiring youth towards agriculture.
KE Chidanandappa described Dr Rajkumar as a cultural symbol of Karnataka, noting his decision to stay away from politics despite numerous opportunities. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammed N Zuber termed him a cultural ambassador whose films and songs continue to inspire generations.
The programme was attended by a large number of fans and officials, reflecting the enduring legacy of Dr Rajkumar in Karnataka's cultural landscape.
