Following the demise of legendary actor Dharmendra last year, his family and countless fans continue to mourn the irreplaceable void left behind. His son, Bobby Deol, has frequently expressed his grief publicly, often becoming visibly emotional when discussing his late father.
Bobby Deol Says 'Nobody' Can Play Dharmendra on Screen
During his recent appearance on the show Aap Ki Adalat, Bobby was asked by an audience member who he believed could portray his father in a potential biopic. When given the choice between himself and his elder brother Sunny Deol, Bobby responded without hesitation, 'Nobody.' Overcome with emotion, he added, 'No one can be like him. The kind of person he was, there can never be another.'
Bobby Deol Defends His Father's Actions
Another audience member brought up stories of Dharmendra reportedly losing his temper and lashing out at those who misbehaved. Bobby defended his father, offering a perspective many may not have known. 'Dad was the kind of person who could never tolerate anyone speaking unfairly or disrespectfully. He did indeed raise his hands and hit hard. But afterwards, he would bring that same person inside, feed them food, give them milk, buy them new clothes. That's the kind of person he was,' Bobby said.
He further added, 'I always felt bad whenever he hit someone. I have never been like that. Since childhood, I have seen that I never felt the need to raise my hand on anyone, and I don't like doing it either.'
Bobby Deol's Next: Anurag Kashyap's 'Bandar'
On the professional front, Bobby Deol is set to appear next in director Anurag Kashyap's Bandar, scheduled for release in theatres this Friday. The film, inspired by real events, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025, where it garnered significant attention. Penned by Paatal Lok, Kohrra, and Udta Punjab writers Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the film features an expansive cast including Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Riddhi Sen, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jitendra Joshi, Nagesh Bhonsle, and Ankush Gedam.
