Bobby Deol on How Animal and Ashram Revived His Career

Bobby Deol has opened up about how the blockbuster film Animal and the web series Ashram completely changed the trajectory of his career. In a recent interview, the actor shared insights into his professional journey and his latest project Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap.

No Fee Hike for Bandar

Despite the career-changing success of Animal, Bobby Deol revealed that he did not increase his fee for Bandar. He stated, "When a project truly excites me as an actor, money isn't the first thing I think about. Working with Anurag Kashyap felt like being part of an acting workshop. I learnt something new every day."

This marks Bobby's first-ever collaboration with Anurag Kashyap, a filmmaker renowned for his raw and gritty storytelling. The film has already generated significant buzz in the industry.

The Allure of Realism

Even after receiving widespread acclaim for his performance in Animal, Bobby continues to surprise audiences with his choice of roles. He explained what drew him to Bandar: "What drew me in was the opportunity to play such a real, grounded character. We are often conditioned to portray larger-than-life roles, but being completely normal on screen is actually far more challenging. Anurag wasn't looking for theatrics or embellishment—he wanted honesty and authenticity."

Career Transformation

Bobby's career was at a low point before Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal turned things around. He credits both Animal and Prakash Jha's web series Ashram for this dramatic shift. "Animal and Ashram completely changed my career. Today I am working in projects that give me an opportunity to play characters that are far removed from what I am in real life," he said.

The actor's willingness to take on unconventional roles has earned him critical praise and a new fan base. With Bandar, Bobby Deol continues to explore complex, authentic characters under the guidance of a visionary director.
