Celina Jaitly's Brother Detained in UAE: Delhi HC Steps In

Bollywood Star's Heartbreaking Plea for Brother

In a deeply emotional social media post that has captured national attention, Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has poured her heart out for her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the United Arab Emirates since September last year. The actress shared a poignant message on Instagram alongside her brother's picture, expressing her unwavering support and concern for his wellbeing.

"#mybrotherandme : My Dumpy, I hope you're ok, I hope you know I'm standing with you like a rock, I hope you know I haven't slept a single night without crying for you," wrote the emotional sister. Her viral post continued, "I hope you know I'd give up everything for you, I hope you know no one can ever come between us, I hope you know I left no stone unturned, I hope God will finally be kind to you & me my bhai... waiting for you."

The Case of the Detained Army Officer

Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, a decorated Para Special Forces officer, has been held in UAE detention for over 14 months under unspecified "national security" grounds. According to court documents and family statements, the former Army officer was taken into custody in September 2024 and remained untraceable for eight agonizing months before his family could locate him.

The circumstances of his detention are particularly concerning. Advocate Raghav Kacker, representing the family, revealed that Major Jaitly was detained outside the Mall of the Emirates by unidentified men in plain clothes who allegedly forced him into an unmarked black vehicle. Despite later acknowledgment of his detention by authorities, legal access has been severely restricted throughout his confinement.

Celina Jaitly last heard from her brother on Raksha Bandhan in August 2024, after which all communication was abruptly severed. Describing him as a fourth-generation Army officer who trained at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering before volunteering for the elite Para Special Forces, she emphasized his patriotic credentials. "He's a true patriot who has always put the nation before self. I just want him back in his country," the actress stated, voicing serious concerns about his physical and mental condition.

Legal Breakthrough and Diplomatic Efforts

In a significant development that has brought renewed hope to the family, the Delhi High Court has directed authorities to ensure legal access for the detained officer. The court has specifically instructed the Ministry of External Affairs to provide legal assistance and file a detailed status report within four weeks. Additionally, the court has mandated the appointment of a nodal officer to oversee the case, with the next hearing scheduled for December 4.

The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that Indian consular officials have met Major Jaitly on four occasions, with the most recent meeting occurring in September 2025. The Indian Embassy in UAE maintains that they remain in "close touch with his family" and are "fully seized of the matter," indicating ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation.

Celina Jaitly has described the court's intervention as a "ray of hope" after months of despair and uncertainty. The actress has been fighting relentlessly for her brother's release, having filed a grievance on the Madad Portal that eventually led to discovering his transfer to a detention facility in Abu Dhabi after the initial eight-month period when his whereabouts were unknown.

The case continues to draw widespread attention, with fans and well-wishers flooding social media with messages of support for the Jaitly family as they await justice and the safe return of their beloved family member and national hero.
