Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, a decorated Para Special Forces officer, has been held in UAE detention for over 14 months under unspecified "national security" grounds. According to court documents and family statements, the former Army officer was taken into custody in September 2024 and remained untraceable for eight agonizing months before his family could locate him.
The circumstances of his detention are particularly concerning. Advocate Raghav Kacker, representing the family, revealed that Major Jaitly was detained outside the Mall of the Emirates by unidentified men in plain clothes who allegedly forced him into an unmarked black vehicle. Despite later acknowledgment of his detention by authorities, legal access has been severely restricted throughout his confinement.
Celina Jaitly last heard from her brother on Raksha Bandhan in August 2024, after which all communication was abruptly severed.
