Congress worker arrested for molesting teen in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Anand P Naidu, a member of the district Congress committee, was arrested on charges of molesting a 16-year-old girl at her residence in west Bengaluru. He was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and subsequently remanded in judicial custody, being sent to Bengaluru Central Prison.

Complaint and Arrest

Based on a complaint filed by the victim's father, a 40-year-old businessman, the police arrested Naidu, who is a Congress functionary from the Mahalakshmi Layout constituency. The businessman also lodged a complaint against his estranged second wife, accusing her of having a relationship with Anand.

Family Background

Police revealed that the businessman is divorced from the girl's mother, who was his first wife. According to the businessman, his second wife had affairs with multiple men, including Anand, prompting him to distance himself from her. However, his 16-year-old daughter and her two other children from the second wife continued to live with her.

Anand would allegedly beat the children for opposing his relationship with their mother. Recently, Anand molested the 16-year-old girl, who then narrated the incident to her father. A police officer stated, "According to the businessman, his second wife had affairs with many men, including Anand. So, he distanced himself from her. However, his 16-year-old daughter and two other children with the second wife lived with her. Anand would beat the children as they opposed his relationship with their mother. Recently, Anand molested the 16-year-old girl and she narrated the incident to her father."

The case has been registered under the POCSO Act, and Naidu remains in judicial custody as investigations continue.
