A 23-year-old Dalit woman has accused several men of raping her over multiple years and holding her captive in a house in southeast Delhi's Jamia Nagar after allegedly forcing her to convert to Islam. Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case.
Arrests and Main Accused
The main suspect, identified as Fahim, is already incarcerated in another case. Authorities have secured a production warrant against him. The other three arrested are Fahim's father Khursheed, brother Azeem, and another relative.
FIR Registration
An FIR was registered on May 14 at the Jamia Nagar police station following the woman's complaint, which includes allegations of rape, criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement, forced religious conversion, and physical assault.
Initial Contact and Assault
According to the complaint, a man named Sahil contacted the woman on Instagram in November 2021, presenting himself as a Hindu. In March 2022, she accompanied him to a house in Batla House, where Sahil allegedly sexually assaulted her and recorded the act. He then began blackmailing her with the videos, threatening to post them online. The woman later discovered that Sahil was actually Fahim after being taken to Meerut.
Continued Abuse and Forced Marriage
The woman alleges that Fahim, his father Khursheed, and their family repeatedly sexually assaulted her, confined her in the house, beat her, and threatened to kill her if she attempted to escape. On May 27, 2022, she was taken at gunpoint to a madrassa in Agwanpur and forced to marry Fahim. Her name was changed to Ayesha, and her Aadhaar details were altered. She also claimed Khursheed would bring blood-stained meat and force her to clean, cut, and cook it, assaulting her if she refused.
Threats and Firearm Trade
The FIR states that Fahim's brother Azeem once hung the woman's daughter upside down from a terrace to intimidate her. Additionally, unknown men frequently visited the home to trade firearms, and she was left alone with them and raped.
Escape and Suicide Attempt
The woman told TOI, 'He told me that since he cannot go out of India for Haj given his criminal record, he must get a Hindu woman to marry him and convert her to Islam to enter jannat.' She managed to escape with her three-year-old daughter to Ballabgarh in January 2025 after Fahim was jailed. However, he continued to call and threaten her. In May 2025, she attempted suicide at Ballabgarh station but was stopped by a passerby who connected her with NGOs, leading to the police complaint.
