Polio Drive Kicks Off from CM’s Residence
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar launched the Pulse Polio vaccination drive from his official residence in Sadashivnagar on 28 June 2026. The campaign aims to immunise all children under five years of age against polio across the state.
CM’s Appeal to Parents
“The government has launched the Pulse Polio vaccination drive, and parents in all parts of the state should get children under five (years) vaccinated. A healthy state and nation can be built from a healthy family,” Shivakumar said after inaugurating the programme at his residence.
Statewide Campaign Details
The drive is part of the national Pulse Polio initiative, which has been instrumental in keeping India polio-free since 2014. Health officials have set up thousands of vaccination booths across Karnataka, with door-to-door teams covering remote areas to ensure no child is missed.
Impact and Targets
The state aims to vaccinate over 50 lakh children during this round. Special focus is on migrant populations and underserved communities to maintain herd immunity and prevent any resurgence of the disease.
