Diljit Dosanjh Humorously Reacts to University Course on Him

Global sensation Diljit Dosanjh once again charmed the international stage with his signature blend of humility and wit during a high-profile return to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 28, 2026. The Punjabi icon reacted to the news that Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) has officially launched a course dedicated to his cultural impact.

True to his grounded superstar persona, Diljit's reaction to being a subject of academic study was both hilarious and self-deprecating. When host Jimmy Fallon brought up the surprising fact about the course, the singer responded with pure, unfiltered humility: 'Oh yes, sir. I don't know, I'm not going to college or university. I'm 10th pass, that's why my English is bad. But I don't know about that… yeah, they started a course at a Toronto university.'

When Fallon pressed further, asking what the course might teach, Diljit simply quipped, 'I don't know, actually.' The exchange highlighted his ability to laugh at himself while acknowledging the honor.

Diljit Dosanjh's Appearance on The Tonight Show

The appearance also saw Diljit speak about the historical significance of the Aura Tour's opening show in Vancouver, his previous Tonight Show appearance in 2024, and performing at Coachella in 2023. He opened up about the emotional significance of performing to a sold-out crowd of 55,000 at a Vancouver stadium, just two kilometres from where, in 1914, Indian immigrants were denied entry into Canada.

Speaking about the historic weight of the moment, Diljit said, 'The stadium we did in Vancouver, like, in 1914, when our people came to Canada for the first time, they weren't allowed to enter. And that stadium is just two kilometers away from the place of the Guru Nanak Jahaz, Komagata Maru incident.' He then added with quiet pride, 'So yeah, that's a big thing for us now: 55,000 people in one stadium there. It's just two kilometers from where you didn't allow us to come, and now we are here, man.'
