Armand Duplantis and Desire Inglander Tie the Knot in French Riviera Wedding
Duplantis Marries Inglander in France

Armand Duplantis and Desire Inglander are officially married. The Olympic pole vault star and the Swedish model celebrated their wedding in the south of France last week after years together. The ceremony came months after the couple legally married in Sweden. While the wedding was a private and carefully planned event, it also drew attention earlier this year when details were accidentally revealed by a guest, leaving Duplantis frustrated ahead of the big day.

The couple exchanged vows at Chateau de Castellaras, a luxury venue in the hills near Cannes on the French Riviera. According to Vogue, the celebration was the result of nearly a year of planning. Desire Inglander said the south of France felt like the perfect location because the couple had spent a lot of time there with family. The area is also close to Monaco, which has become their new home base. The celebrations stretched across several events. Guests were welcomed at Villa Eilenroc in Antibes before the wedding reception and pool party took place at Villa Castel.

Armand Duplantis Speaks Out After Wedding Details Were Leaked

Before the ceremony, news about the wedding unexpectedly became public when a Bislett Games organiser, who was also invited to the wedding, mentioned that Duplantis would miss competitions because of his upcoming marriage. Speaking to Sport Bladet earlier this year, Duplantis admitted he was surprised by the comments. "I don't have the ring on yet and we're going to have the real ceremony and wedding during the summer. I might have wished he wouldn't say anything. I was a little shocked that he said it, but that's how it is. It is what it is. It's a wedding and it happens once in a lifetime. If you miss one or two competitions – who cares? I've competed as many times as I want in the last five years. If I have to miss a competition because of a wedding and marry the love of my life, it doesn't matter."

Desire Inglander and Armand Duplantis Add Personal Touches to Special Day

The couple had already completed the legal part of their marriage in Stockholm because Swedish citizens must register their marriage at home before holding a ceremony abroad. For the French celebration, Inglander chose a custom gown created by Swedish designer Isa Lanto. She later changed into a second dress for dinner and a third outfit for the reception. Duplantis took inspiration from both James Bond and his father for his wedding look, wearing a white dinner jacket paired with a black bow tie. The wedding marked a major personal milestone for the 26-year-old athletics star, who continues to dominate pole vaulting after breaking the world record 15 times during his career.
