Hansika Motwani, known for her role in Shakalaka Boom Boom, recently shared insights into her personal and professional life during a podcast with Hauterrfly. She discussed her television journey, working with Shah Rukh Khan and Allu Arjun, and more. Here are the highlights.
Hansika's Journey as a Child Artist
Hansika recalled her childhood acting days, saying, "The best part was that I saw the industry when magazines were still big, and now we've gone digital. I was very fortunate to meet really nice people. At that time, TV was very big with soaps like Shakalaka Boom Boom. It did really well and gave me good exposure. I was lucky to be surrounded by good people."
Managing School with Acting
She explained how she balanced school and shoots: "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi had its leap; we did the photoshoot, and the whole cast was on the front page of The Times of India. Then Shakalaka Boom Boom happened, another film happened, and things kept happening. My mom supported me, saying if this is my path, she should back me. After school, I went for shoots—it was well managed. People knew her school ends and then she'll come, so working hours worked for me. My mom was clear that I shouldn't overexert myself."
On Her Divorce
Addressing her divorce, Hansika said, "As actors, you have to take everything with a pinch of salt. So it's okay if you're appreciating me, you'll have a point of view on me as well. The more I'm in the limelight, the more people will talk about me."
Bond with Smriti Irani
Hansika recalled her bond with Smriti Irani while shooting Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi: "She was always the one giving us experience and learning. She used to say, 'Read the newspaper.' I still remember that. Once she shared her experiences of how she became Smriti Irani before acting. It was always nice. She was very warm."
Experience with Allu Arjun
Talking about working with Allu Arjun, she said, "In his films, he's like Aamir Khan, that's what someone told me. It was great working with him. When the film was offered, I liked the script and became a mainstream actress. People ask if I'm calling him after Pushpa 2: The Rule. We spoke. He said, 'Bunny killed it.' I said thanks. He's very sweet; we still talk a lot. He's my first co-star. I learned a lot from him, and he'll always be very dear."
On Her First Pay Cheque
Hansika revealed her first salary of Rs 6,000 came from an advertisement with Shah Rukh Khan. She shared that it was a special moment, marking the start of her journey. Working with such a big star was exciting and inspiring, giving her confidence to pursue acting seriously. This early experience helped shape her understanding of professionalism and dedication from a young age.
On Finding Love Again
Hansika opened up about love, saying, "For me, it's beautiful. I believe in love; love is beautiful. Right now, I don't know. When the time is right, I think the universe will guide me."
