Jennifer Lopez, a global superstar and businesswoman known for her chart-topping music, acting roles in films like 'Hustlers' and 'Maid in Manhattan', and ventures in television, fashion, and beauty, has opened up about a major milestone as her twins prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
Jennifer Lopez Celebrates Twins' College Acceptances
The 'Office Romance' star recently spoke about her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, graduating from high school and their future plans. Lopez revealed that both children were accepted into every college they applied to and received scholarships. 'I am so proud that they set goals for themselves,' Lopez told Extra. 'They all got into all five colleges that they applied to. They both got a scholarship to each, you know, one scholarship to each. Each one got a scholarship to a school. And I just felt like they work so hard.'
Reflecting on their journey, she added, 'I watched how hard they worked, from the time they were like... when school gets serious in the fifth grade, and they just worked hard. They have ADHD, and so they need to learn differently, and there were struggles and times, and I'm just so proud of them because they did what they said they were going to do, and they're good people.' Lopez emphasized that her children are 'loving, good-hearted people,' recalling a family mantra: 'I always say to them, 'What do I say?' And they say, 'Doesn't matter if we get good grades so long as we're good people.' And I was like, 'That's right.' And they still sometimes will quote that back to me. So I'm very proud of both of them.'
Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Emotional Toll of Twins Leaving for College
Earlier in the month, Lopez appeared on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and shared that she had been crying as her twins prepared for college. 'Tomorrow one of them graduates [high school],' she told host Jimmy Kimmel, adding with a laugh, 'Don't talk about it 'cause we start crying.' When asked if she cried at the ceremony, the 'If You Had My Love' singer replied, 'Yeah. I've been crying for two months.' Kimmel joked about comparing reactions with other parents, and Lopez laughed, 'No. I think all the parents are going to be crying at some point.'
Jennifer Lopez Supports Twins' Individual College Choices
Addressing whether it was inconvenient that her children chose different schools, the proud mother said, 'It's fine. I want them to be happy, go where they want to go, and do what they want to do.' As she watches them move forward, Lopez remains focused on their character and dedication to becoming good people above all else.
