A high-profile lawsuit that accused JPMorgan Chase of enabling sexual abuse, racism, and career threats has escalated into a defamation dispute, with the accused executive now fighting back.
Executive Countersues Over Reputation Damage
Lorna Hajdini, an executive director at JPMorgan Chase, filed a countersuit on Tuesday night against her former colleague Chirayu Rana. She asserted that his allegations were entirely false and malicious, and that they have severely harmed her personal and professional reputation.
The original lawsuit, which went viral, detailed claims of sexual misconduct and discrimination within America's largest bank. However, Hajdini's legal team argues that Rana's accusations were fabricated to gain leverage in a separate employment dispute.
Legal Battle Intensifies
The countersuit seeks damages for defamation and emotional distress. Hajdini maintains that she has been wrongly vilified in the media and that the case has caused irreparable damage to her career at the financial institution.
JPMorgan Chase has not yet commented on the countersuit. The bank previously stated that it takes all allegations seriously and investigates them thoroughly.
Legal experts suggest that the case could set a precedent for how similar disputes are handled in the corporate world, particularly involving high-ranking executives.
