On Friday, Karisma Kapoor remembered her ex-husband Sunjay Kapur on his first death anniversary with a poignant post on Instagram. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actress shared the date "12/6/2025" along with the message, "Sunjay in our hearts forever." She accompanied the tribute with folded hands, a white heart, and a dove emoji.
Priya Sachdev Pens Emotional Tribute
Sunjay Kapur's wife, Priya Sachdev, also took to social media to honor his memory with a heartfelt note. She wrote, "A year has passed since you left, yet your presence continues to guide us every single day. You never believed in standing still. You embraced life with energy, curiosity, and conviction, inspiring those around you to dream bigger, work harder, and give more of themselves."
She further added, "You remain deeply loved and forever remembered in the values you lived by, the lives you touched, and the love you gave so generously. Your love remains our strength. Your memory remains our blessing."
Legal Battle Over Estate
Karisma Kapoor's post comes amid reports of an ongoing legal battle involving Sunjay Kapur's family over his reported Rs 30,000-crore estate. The dispute is said to involve his children, widow Priya Sachdev Kapur, mother Rani Kapur, and other members of the Kapur family.
How Did Sunjay Kapur Die?
Sunjay Kapur passed away in England in June 2025. Reports claimed that the businessman suffered a cardiac arrest after allegedly swallowing a bee while playing polo. Following his death, Karisma Kapoor attended his last rites in Delhi along with their children, Samaira and Kiaan. She was accompanied by her sister Kareena Kapoor Khan and brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan.
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's Marriage and Divorce
Karisma Kapoor married Sunjay Kapur on September 29, 2003, in a Sikh ceremony. The couple later separated and filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014. Their divorce was finalized in 2016. That same year, Karisma had filed a domestic violence case against Sunjay Kapur and his mother. Despite parting ways, the former couple continued to co-parent their two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan.
