Mahhi Vij on Father's Unconditional Support During Divorce

Actress Mahhi Vij has opened up about navigating a challenging phase of her divorce from former husband Jay Bhanushali, whom she still calls her 'best friend.' She also spoke about the unconditional support she received from her father during that time.

Father's Unwavering Support

Rajeev Khandelwal, hosting the show Tum Ho Naa Ghar Ki Superstar, asked Mahhi about the difficult phase in her life when her father stood by her. Mahhi revealed that her father never questioned her decisions. 'He has always said, 'Whatever decision you make, we are with you. You just need to be happy in life,'' she shared.

She added that Jay remains a close friend and family. 'As for us, Jay is my best friend right now, and he is my family. My father visits the house, sits with Jay over tea, and they spend time together. We all share a very good relationship. I'm grateful that there is no bitterness between anyone.'

Silent Strength

Reflecting on her father's approach, Mahhi said, 'When all of this was happening, you just don't want anyone to question you. You want people to simply sit beside you quietly—and that's exactly what my father did. He would sit silently without asking questions like, 'Why are you doing this?' or 'This is wrong.''

Societal Expectations

Mahhi also addressed societal pressures on women. 'Girls are often told that no matter what happens, they should just keep adjusting and carrying on. When a woman returns to her parents' home, there's often worry because of society and relatives. Relatives often make taunts and comments.'

Despite this, Mahhi's father never questioned her. 'He simply made me feel that he was there for me. He showed me, 'I'm here. Don't worry. Whether you stay there or not, your father will always stand by your side.''

Moved by her words, Rajeev Khandelwal remarked, 'This is what should be said to all those so-called wise people: 'My father doesn't question me, so who are you to question me?' That's where the answer ends.'
