Mumbai man, 64, arrested for molesting 8-year-old neighbour

A 64-year-old man has been arrested by the Aarey Colony Police in Mumbai for allegedly molesting a minor girl who lived next door to him. The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, according to police officials.

Incident Details

The incident took place earlier this week when the 8-year-old victim left her house to play around 10 am. When she did not return, her family began searching for her. The door to the accused’s house was found shut. When the girl’s mother knocked on his door, the accused claimed he had sent the girl to run an errand for him at a nearby grocery store. However, the family’s inquiry at the store revealed that the girl had not been there.

The family returned to the accused’s residence, but he insisted that the girl was still running an errand. When the family threatened to call the police, the accused admitted that the girl was hiding in his home. Upon entering, the family found the girl, who disclosed that the accused had offered her money and invited her inside. Once she entered, he shut the door and molested her repeatedly.
