Bokaro: Seven girls fell ill after allegedly consuming a wild fruit at Phulwari Tola in Bokaro district on Sunday. Family members rushed them to the Bermo Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment, with doctors stating their condition is stable.

Incident Details

Locals said the girls were playing near a house when they ate a wild fruit called ‘bhandariya phal’. Soon after, they complained of vomiting, stomach pain and uneasiness. “The plant is near our house. When we saw it, we threw away the fruits asking them not to eat them. Later we found that the children complained of vomiting and dizziness. So we rushed them to hospital,” said the mother of one child. The girls are neighbours.

Medical Response

Bermo SDH medical officer in-charge Dr Anita Murmu said all seven were given primary treatment. Two girls, found serious during examination, were referred to Bokaro Sadar Hospital for specialised care. Bermo BDO Mukesh Kumar visited the hospital, reviewed their condition with doctors and assured families of administrative support.
