Veteran actress Mumtaz recently opened up about her deep friendship with the late actor Feroz Khan, dispelling rumors of any romantic involvement between them. In an interview, Mumtaz revealed that while they shared a close bond, there was never a physical relationship. She acknowledged Feroz Khan's striking handsomeness, stating that no woman could remain unattracted to him, but emphasized that their connection was purely platonic.
A Friendship That Spanned Decades
Mumtaz and Feroz Khan worked together in several films, including 'Aadmii Aur Insaan', 'Mela', and 'Upaasna'. She also did her first and only bikini scene for his film 'Apraadh'. Their friendship endured over the years, with Mumtaz recalling that she knew Feroz before his marriage. She mentioned that he had an Anglo-Indian girlfriend at the time, which prevented any physical closeness between them. "Feroz Khan always used to be fond of me. But unki girlfriend thi so we were not close physically. He was one of the most handsome guys in our film industry. Aaj bhi unki barabari mein koi nai hai," she said.
A Strong Bond Without Romance
Mumtaz clarified that despite Feroz's good looks, it did not automatically lead to an affair. "You may wonder, itna khubsurat hero tha toh Mumtaz ko offer kiya ya nai. Aisi duniya ki koi aurat nai hogi joh Feroz Khan ko dekhke attract na ho physically. He was a good looking man. But joh khoobsurat aadmi hai ya aurat hai, that doesn't mean you have to have an affair. We both were Muslims, from Irani family. We were very good friends. I'm still good friends with his younger brother Akbar," she added.
Family Ties Through Marriage
In 1971, Mumtaz left the film industry and married Gujarati businessman Mayur Madhvani. Interestingly, her friendship with Feroz Khan remained so strong that years later, her daughter Natasha married Feroz's son, actor Fardeen Khan. Mumtaz revealed that the union was an arranged marriage, not a love marriage, further cementing the bond between the two families.
The actress's candid interview sheds light on a unique friendship that transcended typical Bollywood relationships, proving that deep connections can exist without romance.
