A tragic incident has been reported from Tarn Taran district, where a 23-year-old nursing student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Sheron village. According to police, the young woman took the extreme step after her friend refused to marry her despite giving assurances.
Incident Details
The victim, identified as Geetika, was a student at a private nursing college. Her mother filed a complaint against Rajinder Singh, a resident of Bal Kalan village in Majitha, following the incident. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and are conducting raids to apprehend the accused, who is currently absconding.
Mother's Complaint
As per the mother's statement, Rajinder had been friends with Geetika for some time and frequently visited their home. He had assured Geetika that he would marry her, and the family had no objections to the relationship. However, on June 5, when Geetika returned home from college around 3 pm, she was visibly distraught and revealed that Rajinder had refused to marry her. The mother tried to console her daughter before leaving for her shop. Upon returning home about an hour later, she found Geetika hanging from the ceiling.
Police Action
Police have initiated an investigation and are searching for the accused. The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Further details are awaited.
