Former Lok Sabha member Priya Dutt, daughter of iconic actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis, took to social media on Sunday to pay a heartfelt tribute to her legendary mother. In a touching post, she described Nargis as her 'inspiration' and highlighted the profound impact her mother had on her life.

Priya Dutt's Emotional Tribute

'Remembering my mother who taught me life's most important values,' Priya wrote. 'Her compassion, courage and selflessness weren't just qualities, they were a way of life she passed on to us. Mum showed me what it means to lead with heart and live with dignity.'

Priya also expressed how her mother's presence continues to guide her. 'Forty-five years have passed since she left us, but her light has always been the loving force guiding my way. My greatest inspiration, always,' she added. Alongside the post, she shared a picture of Nargis with the caption, 'My Mother, My Inspiration.'

Nargis: A Legendary Career

Born on June 1, 1929, Nargis is celebrated as one of Indian cinema's finest performers, excelling in genres from comedy to drama. She began her leading lady career in the early 1940s and continued until 1967. Her final film appearance was in the psychological thriller 'Raat Aur Din.' She made her screen debut at age five in a minor role in 'Talash-E-Haq' (1935), but her acting career truly began with 'Tamanna' (1942).

Personal Life and Legacy

Nargis and Sunil Dutt fell in love while working on the 1957 film 'Mother India' and married on March 11, 1958. They had three children: Sanjay Dutt, Namrata Dutt, and Priya Dutt. In the early 1980s, Nargis was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away on May 3, 1981. Her legacy as both an actress and a mother continues to inspire millions.
