Actress Priya Thakur, who plays the lead role in the television show Vasudha, believes that while the television industry may appear glamorous from the outside, it demands immense hard work, discipline, and the ability to constantly adapt. Talking about managing hectic schedules and multiple scenes in a day, she says, “Nowadays every profession requires multitasking skills, not just actors. But in television, it becomes even more important because you have to switch between emotions, scenes, and sometimes even looks within the same day.” She adds that staying mentally prepared and focused helps her handle the pressure better. “I try to take one scene at a time and not overthink everything together. With time, it becomes part of your routine,” she shares.
Acting Is Not Easy: Priya Thakur
Reacting to the common perception that acting is easy, Priya is quick to disagree. “No, everyone cannot be an actor. Acting is not easy; it is not everyone’s cup of tea,” she says. She adds, “It may look glamorous, but it requires patience, hard work, and emotional strength. You face long hours, pressure, and a lot of rejection.” According to her, true passion is what keeps an actor going. Interestingly, acting was never a backup plan for Priya. “I was that kid who would stand in front of the mirror, say dialogues, and dance. I always knew this is what I wanted to do,” she says with a smile. She adds that manifesting this dream kept her focused. “I feel lucky that I am living what I always dreamed of,” she shares.
Stability and Growth on Television
Speaking about television as a medium, Priya highlights its biggest strength. “Television gives you stability as an actor,” she says. She adds that it also offers constant growth and visibility. “You connect with the audience every day, and that is very special,” she explains.
Advice for Newcomers
For newcomers, her advice is simple yet honest. “If you face rejection, remember everything happens for a reason. Do not lose hope,” she says. She adds, “Be patient, stay consistent, and keep working on yourself. Success will come, but it takes time.”
