Punjabi Singer Inder Kaur Found Dead in Canal
Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was discovered dead in the Neelo canal near Ludhiana, days after being reported missing. The 29-year-old artist had been untraceable since May 13. Her body was recovered on Tuesday morning at approximately 11 a.m. Police have launched a murder investigation and are examining multiple aspects of the case.
Family Alleges Abduction and Coercion
As reported by Punjab News Live, relatives have alleged that Inder Kaur was kidnapped at gunpoint and pressured to marry against her will. According to the family, she refused the proposal and was subsequently killed. Her brother stated that she left home at around 6:30 p.m. on May 13 to purchase household items. When she failed to return and could not be contacted, relatives began searching for her and later approached the police.
Canada-Based Accused Under Scrutiny
During the inquiry, investigators learned that the singer knew a man identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a native of Moga who is currently based in Canada. Family members claim he was already married and had children, but continued insisting that Inder Kaur marry him. They further alleged that he left the country after orchestrating the crime and accused him of planning the entire incident from abroad. Police are probing these claims as part of their wider investigation.
Inder Kaur Fans Mourn the Young Singer
Inder Kaur had built a strong digital presence with more than 124,000 followers on Instagram. News of her death prompted an outpouring of grief from fans. One follower wrote, "RIP, Didn't follow you, but now I saw the news." Another commented, "Heartbreaking." A third simply wrote, "So sad..."
Authorities are examining all available evidence, including the allegations of kidnapping and forced marriage pressure. No final conclusions have been announced, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the singer's death.
