Richa Chadha Returns to Belly Dancing in Goa

Richa Chadha has returned to belly dancing, taking time out in Goa to attend a five-day intensive course aimed at deepening her understanding of the dance form. The actress-producer shared that after a gap of a few years, she felt the urge to reconnect with it in a more dedicated manner.

Return to Dance After Motherhood

Speaking about her decision to return to belly dancing, Richa Chadha explained that she resumed dancing about six to seven months after giving birth. She got in touch with Dipika Vijay, whom she described as an amazing teacher. What began as an exploration of belly dance as therapy during her postpartum phase has blossomed into a full-blown parallel interest.

A Personal Journey

Richa emphasized that this course in Goa is not for a role or a performance but purely for herself. She expressed a desire to learn, grow, and fall in love with the dance form all over again. This dedication highlights her commitment to personal development beyond her professional commitments.

Previous Training and Background

A few years ago, while preparing for a special number in one of her films, Richa trained in tribal belly dancing under internationally renowned expert Olga Meos in Kazakhstan. Even during the lockdown, she continued her training through online sessions, using the time to sharpen her movements and stay connected to dance. In addition to belly dancing, Richa is also a trained Kathak dancer.

Professional Front

On the professional front, Richa was last seen in 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The popular series is set in Lahore's red-light district of Heera Mandi during the Indian independence movement. It explores the lives of tawaifs and their intersection with political and personal struggles under British colonial rule.
