Former UFC champion and WWE star Ronda Rousey is now fully focused on family life with her husband, former UFC heavyweight Travis Browne. The couple welcomed their first daughter, La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne, in September 2021 and their second daughter, Liko’ula Pā’ūomahinakaipiha Browne, in January 2025. Browne also has two sons from a previous marriage.
Motherhood Changed Rousey's Perspective
Over the years, Rousey has openly spoken about how becoming a mother changed her life completely. In a June 2023 interview with PEOPLE, she admitted that motherhood made her happier and gave her a new perspective outside sports and fame. Even with a planned one-time MMA comeback fight against Gina Carano in May 2026, Rousey has said her biggest priority remains spending time with her children and continuing to grow her family.
Welcoming Daughter La’akea in 2021
Rousey and Browne became parents together for the first time in September 2021 when La’akea was born. The couple shared emotional posts online after her arrival. Browne wrote on Instagram, “Welcome to this world La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne. You are so incredibly loved!” The family often calls her “Pō.” Since her birth, Rousey has shared small family moments online, including trips outdoors, gym visits, and playful moments at home. In April 2024, she posted a video showing La’akea happily running into her arms with the caption, “No place I’d rather be.”
Motherhood Struggles During Stars on Mars
In 2023, Rousey appeared on FOX’s reality competition show Stars on Mars. While the show tested contestants physically and mentally, Rousey later admitted that being away from her daughter was the hardest part. Speaking to PEOPLE, she said, “That was the most challenging thing, just being away from my baby.” She also explained that the guilt became stronger each day she stayed away from home. After filming ended, Rousey described the emotional moment she reunited with La’akea. She recalled, “When she saw me, she wanted to jump into my arms.” The mother and daughter later spent the night together watching Disney’s Frozen.
Second Daughter Born Amid Los Angeles Wildfires
The couple’s second daughter, Liko’ula Pā’ūomahinakaipiha Browne, arrived in January 2025. Just like her older sister and father, her name has Hawaiian roots. After the birth, Rousey shared an emotional Instagram message. She wrote, “Our little girl came into this world during a windstorm into a city on fire, so grateful she made it safe and sound.” Her message referred to the deadly wildfires that impacted parts of Los Angeles during that time.
Revealing Second Pregnancy at Comic-Con
Rousey first publicly revealed her second pregnancy during San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024 while promoting her graphic novel Expecting the Unexpected. The book follows two rival assassins who unexpectedly become mothers. During the event, Rousey confirmed she was expecting another baby girl. Later, she excitedly shared on Instagram, “IT’S A GIRL! Happy I can finally shout it from the rooftops.”
