Breaking her silence, Smriti Mandhana addressed the situation directly with her followers. "Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life," she wrote, emphasizing her private nature. She clarified the central fact: "the wedding is called off." The cricketer stated that the families reached this decision mutually.
Mandhana made a heartfelt request for space, urging the public and media to respect the privacy of both families. "I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same," she added, expressing a desire for everyone to move forward.
A Journey from Postponement to Cancellation
The path to this cancellation began with a postponement. The grand wedding, planned for November 23, 2025, in Sangli, was put on hold indefinitely due to a family health emergency. The couple's engagement had been a celebrated event, following Muchhal's surprise proposal at the DY Patil Stadium after India's Women's World Cup triumph. Teammate Jemimah Rodrigues showed her support by withdrawing from the Women's Big Bash League to stay with Mandhana in India during this challenging time.
