Smriti Mandhana's Wedding Postponed Indefinitely After Father Falls Ill
Smriti Mandhana Wedding Postponed Due to Father's Illness

The highly anticipated wedding of Indian cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana and music composer-filmmaker Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed due to a medical emergency in the family. The ceremony was scheduled to take place this Sunday in Sangli, but Mandhana's father fell seriously ill, forcing the family to put all celebrations on hold.

Medical Emergency Disrupts Wedding Plans

According to Mandhana's manager Tuhin Mishra, the sudden health crisis occurred during breakfast on Sunday morning. Shriniwas Mandhana, Smriti's father, suddenly started feeling unwell while the family was eating together. The situation quickly escalated despite initial hopes for improvement.

"We waited for a while, hoping he might feel better, but his condition kept worsening," Mishra told PTI. "So we decided not to take any risk, called an ambulance, and took him to the hospital. He is currently under observation."

Intimate Ceremony Plans Scrapped

The wedding was planned as an intimate affair with only close family and friends in attendance. Mandhana, who recently became a World Cup champion with the Indian women's cricket team, had been enjoying pre-wedding festivities in Sangli throughout the week. Fans had caught rare glimpses of the typically reserved opening batter participating in celebration rituals.

The couple had chosen November 23, 2025 as their wedding date to mark the beginning of their new life chapter together. Celebrations in the Maharashtra city had been building up momentum before the unfortunate incident forced the postponement.

Five-Year Relationship Journey

Mandhana and Muchhal's relationship dates back to 2019 when they first met through mutual friends in Mumbai's creative circles. For years, the couple maintained privacy about their bond while managing demanding professional careers.

Mandhana has been leading India's charge in international cricket, while Muchhal has been expanding his footprint in the film and music industry. They only made their relationship public in July 2024, coinciding with their fifth anniversary.

The couple had shared limited but cherished moments from their journey, including Muchhal's widely discussed proposal at DY Patil Stadium following India's World Cup victory. In a romantic gesture, he led a blindfolded Mandhana onto the historic pitch where she had made cricket history and proposed with a ring. He later commemorated the moment permanently with an "SM18" tattoo on his forearm.

With the wedding now postponed indefinitely, the family's immediate focus remains on Shriniwas Mandhana's health and recovery. The couple has not yet issued any public statement regarding the changed plans.
