The Dindoli police in Surat have arrested a 21-year-old roadside garment vendor for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. The two had initially connected on Instagram, according to officials.
Incident Details
The accused reportedly took the girl to Ajmer on June 14, where he raped her at his residence in Limbayat before releasing her. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused had previously abducted the girl and later dropped her back home.
Victim's Background
The victim, a minor, had dropped out of school after completing Class 7. Authorities are further investigating the case.
Legal Action
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused remains in custody as investigations continue.
