Taylor Frankie Paul, the star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has achieved a significant legal victory in her custody battle with her ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen. During a court hearing on June 1, 2026, the judge expanded her visitation rights with their two-year-old son, Ever, and removed the requirement for supervised visits. This marks a major turning point in the ongoing dispute between the former couple.
Extended Visitation Rights
Previously, Paul was permitted only supervised visitation with Ever, limited to eight hours per week. In May, that was increased to twelve hours. Under the new court order, Paul will now follow Utah's standard minimum parent-time schedule, as reported by USA Today. This arrangement allows her to have overnight visits with Ever every other weekend, as well as one midday weekday visit (without an overnight stay). However, Mortensen retains custodial status for holiday parenting time.
Restraining Order Extended
The judge also addressed the existing restraining order between Paul and Mortensen. The order prohibits both parties from making disparaging remarks about each other and requires them to maintain a distance of at least 100 meters. This protection order has been extended for an additional three years. Initially, Paul lost access to her son after Mortensen filed a protective order against her, citing repeated abusive behavior.
Court Hearing Details
During the hearing, Taylor's legal team highlighted Dakota's unemployed status, criminal history, and lack of family support in Utah, according to The Sun. In contrast, Paul's attorney emphasized that she has a strong support system and a home large enough to accommodate her three children.
Background of Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen
Paul was initially arrested in 2023 following an alleged domestic violence incident involving Mortensen. She was accused of throwing metal chairs at him while their five-year-old daughter was present in the room, as reported by People. She later pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault, while other charges were dropped.
