Nagpur: In a shocking incident on Friday morning, two drunk migrant labourers from Madhya Pradesh allegedly chased and molested a 12-year-old girl at a public place in the Mankapur area. The accused, identified as Rajendra Vishwakarma (22) and his brother Sonu (23), were working at a construction site in Mankapur. They followed the girl, who was heading to buy vegetables with her grandmother, making obscene gestures and molesting her. The traumatized girl ran into a grocery shop to escape the harassment.
Locals Apprehend Accused
Witnessing the act, residents gathered in large numbers and overpowered the duo. The crowd reportedly started beating the brothers. Alerted by the commotion, police from Mankapur police station reached the location and intervened to save the accused from the mob's fury.
Legal Action Taken
Based on the complaint lodged by the girl's mother, a case has been registered at Mankapur police station against the duo under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Both accused have been arrested.
The victim, a Class 7 student, was scared and traumatized by the incident. Police have assured strict action against the accused. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who demand stringent punishment for the perpetrators.
