Varsha Usgaonkar Wants Empowering Roles, Duped of Rs 47 Lakh

Marathi actress Varsha Usgaonkar has opened up about her future aspirations, expressing a strong desire to portray women-empowered roles on screen. In an exclusive conversation with IANS during the trailer launch of her upcoming historical drama 'Kaun Sahi', she shared her thoughts on the kind of characters she wishes to embody in the future.

Desire for Strong Characters

When asked about her preferred roles, Varsha stated, 'I have always wished to play an empowered woman on screen - like a doctor or a lawyer, or a businesswoman. I would like to play such a strong character.' This reflects her inclination towards roles that inspire and showcase women in positions of strength and independence.

Interest in OTT Platforms

Responding to a query about working on OTT platforms, Varsha acknowledged the quality of content being produced. She said, 'There is a lot of good work happening on the OTT. A lot of good web series are being made. I would love to work on those as well. However, I have not been offered a good role on the OTT till now, and when it was offered, I could not do it as I was busy with other commitments.' This indicates her openness to explore digital mediums when the right opportunity arises.

Cheating Case Filed

In a separate development, Varsha Usgaonkar, along with several other actresses, was reportedly duped of approximately Rs 47 lakh by a man posing as a builder and film producer. According to the Mumbai Police, the accused, Avinash Jadhav, was charged with cheating multiple actresses. A case was registered at Mumbai's Shivaji Park Police Station. The accused initially returned Rs 4.52 lakh to build trust but later stopped payments. When the victims attempted to contact him, he changed his mobile number and address. Upon confronting him in Dombivli, he allegedly threatened them and refused to return the money.

This incident highlights the vulnerabilities in the entertainment industry and the need for caution among artists. Varsha Usgaonkar continues to focus on her career while legal proceedings are underway.
