Vikram Bhatt achieved significant success with 'Haunted 3D' (2011), a film that not only became a sleeper hit but also pioneered the 3D wave in Bollywood. Building on its legacy, the upcoming installment in the franchise, set to hit screens on June 12, has generated considerable buzz.
Title Change: From 'Ghosts' to 'Echoes'
Interestingly, the project was initially known as 'Haunted – Ghosts Of The Past'. However, the motion poster unveiled yesterday, while announcing the release date, revealed a new title: 'Haunted – Echoes Of The Past'.
Why the Rename?
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Vikram Bhatt explained, "The Haunted films are not just about ghosts. At its heart, it's a poignant love story. Meanwhile, the film was getting delayed for one reason or another, and I also had to face incarceration. A very close friend of mine suggested that this might be happening due to the word 'Ghost' in the title. He told me, 'Remove the word Ghost from the title.' I said, 'Okay. Let's remove it (smiles).' That's how we came up with 'Echoes Of The Past'. I never believed in such things until now. Also, you can't make a ghost film without believing in superstition."
Addressing AI Criticism
A section of the audience criticized the use of AI in the motion poster. Responding to the concerns, Vikram Bhatt clarified, "This is how motion posters are designed. But I can assure you that there is absolutely no AI in the film at all." When asked about the teaser of 'Haunted – Echoes Of The Past', he shared, "We plan to release it this month itself."
Cast and Details
Mimoh Chakraborty returns in 'Haunted – Echoes Of The Past', just as he did in the original 'Haunted'. He is joined by Chetna Pande, Shruti Prakash, Gaurav Bajpai, Praneet Bhatt, and Hemant Pandey.
