Vikrant Massey on Fatherhood: 30-Hour Labour Made Me See Mother's Incomparable Role
Vikrant Massey opens up on fatherhood, Sheetal's 30-hour labour

National Film Award-winning actor Vikrant Massey has opened up in a deeply personal conversation about the transformative journey of becoming a father in 2024. Massey and his wife, actress Sheetal Thakur, welcomed their first child, a son named Vardaan, earlier this year, an experience that has profoundly reshaped the actor's worldview.

A New Perspective on Parenthood and Partnership

In a candid chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Vikrant reflected on the early days of parenthood, offering a raw and honest take. He admitted that witnessing Sheetal endure a gruelling 30-hour labour was a humbling experience that put everything into perspective. "Women endure a lot," Massey recalled emotionally. He stated that this experience made him realise that no matter how involved a father tries to be, the mother's role is truly incomparable. "Nothing a man does can even come close to it," he added with reverence.

The actor, who has known Sheetal for over a decade, spoke lovingly about watching her navigate pregnancy. "To see that little girl, to see her belly grow day by day... it was very emotional," he shared. It was Sheetal who ultimately chose their son's name, Vardaan, which means 'blessing'.

Marriage, Dreams, and Waking Up to Arguments

Vikrant also delved into the dynamics of his marriage, which he describes as a constant work in progress. While he confessed to having some uncertainties about long-term commitment in his younger days, meeting Sheetal made the decision easy. He clarified that he was never "commitment-phobic" once he found the right partner, crediting Sheetal for standing by him during his early struggling days in Mumbai, when he was tirelessly giving auditions.

The couple, who dated for many years before tying the knot in 2022, share a bond filled with love and light-hearted humour. Vikrant humorously revealed a quirky marital anecdote: Sheetal sometimes wakes up annoyed with him because of something he did in her dreams. He laughed as he recounted one specific instance, "The other day, she actually had a dream that I was on a hike with some pretty girl, and she was calling out my name, and I am not responding... She woke up and she fought with me over a dream."

From Professional Struggle to National Acclaim

On the professional front, 2024 has been a landmark year for Vikrant Massey. He won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor for his critically acclaimed performance in '12th Fail'. This professional high coincided beautifully with the personal joy of welcoming his son.

Looking ahead, the actor was seen in the 2025 release 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan', which also featured Shanaya Kapoor. Massey's journey from a struggling actor to a National Award-winning star and now a devoted father and husband paints a picture of a man embracing life's most significant roles with equal passion and introspection.
