Vipul Roy Robbed of Rs 7 Lakh by Temporary Help

Actor Vipul Roy has revealed that a recent theft at his residence has made him far more cautious about allowing unfamiliar help into his home. The incident, which occurred on April 6, was reported at the Khar Police Station.

Details of the Incident

Vipul narrated, "I returned from an event on April 5 and kept my silver bracelet in a bedroom drawer. Generally, the locker is not locked as nobody accesses my wardrobe. Since our regular domestic help was on leave, we had booked a temporary worker through an app. My mother was at home while I was away."

It was only the next morning that he noticed his bracelet was missing. "At first, I thought I had misplaced it. But soon I realised that a currency pouch containing vouchers, foreign currency, and a travel card was also missing. The helper stole Rs 5 lakh in foreign currency along with Rs 2 lakh worth gold and diamond ornaments."

Police Action and Recovery

After taking a few days to process the situation, Vipul approached the police. To trace the worker, he rebooked her through the app and alerted the authorities. "The police arrived, and by the end of the day, they recovered the jewellery. The currency had been sold," he said.

Impact on Trust and Privacy

Reflecting on the experience, Vipul added, "Many online portals have reported this and leaked my home address which isn’t safe for me and my family. This incident has shaken my trust. Mumbai is known for its safety and spirit, but I will definitely be more cautious going forward."

The actor’s ordeal highlights the risks associated with hiring temporary help through apps and the importance of verifying backgrounds. The police have registered a case and are investigating further.
