Stewart McLean's Final Communication
Stewart McLean, the actor best known for his role in 'Virgin River', passed away on May 22. The cause of his death has not been disclosed as authorities treat the case as a homicide. His last text message, sent shortly before his disappearance, has now come to light.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, McLean's final message was to his managing agent. Jeff Seymour, a close friend and acting coach, revealed that the actor had messaged his agent about an upcoming shoot on May 15. This was reportedly the last time McLean was seen alive.
The report stated that McLean left work on time at 7 p.m. and drove home. It added, 'He had a very normal day. After a 4-hour-long drive, he arrived home that night, his car in the driveway. The last communication came from his phone that evening, and then everything just went dark.'
Seymour noted that the agent contacted him after McLean failed to show up for a shoot the next day. 'When I heard that he didn't show up for that, I knew we were in serious trouble. Because, show business, you know, the show must go on, it is unheard of for an actor not to show up,' Seymour said.
Remembering Stewart McLean
In the same interview, Seymour remembered McLean as a good person. He emphasized that such deeds should not go unpunished and that those responsible should be brought to justice.
'Of course, I want this person found, and this person put away, because this person has compromised their right to walk around among us. From what I know, there's nothing that Stew has been doing in his recent life that would even remotely make somebody angry, and I feel I know him pretty well. He's a good guy, so I think this is more of a troubled person who did this, a desperate person,' Seymour shared.
The Investigation
On May 18, after McLean had not been heard from for three days, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued a public notice asking for help in locating the actor. Following search efforts, authorities announced that the missing person case had escalated into a possible homicide investigation.
A statement from the RCMP, as reported by PEOPLE, read: 'Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was a victim of homicide.' A day later, on May 22, it was revealed that McLean's remains had been recovered from Lions Bay.
No details about the cause of death have been released as the investigation continues. McLean was best known for his roles in 'Arrow', 'The 100', and 'Supernatural'. He was last seen on screen in 'Virgin River', episode 7.
