In a moment of immense pride for India, the globally acclaimed sitarist Anoushka Shankar has once again been recognised by the Recording Academy, securing two nominations for the upcoming 68th Grammy Awards. This remarkable achievement brings her total career Grammy nominations to an impressive thirteen.

The Nominated Works

Anoushka's nomination was announced for two distinct projects. Her single, titled 'Daybreak', has been nominated in the category of Best Global Music Performance. Furthermore, her latest collaborative album, 'Chapter III: We Return To Light'Alam Khan and drummer Sarathy Korwar, has earned a spot in the prestigious Best Global Music Album category.

A Bittersweet Celebration

The artist shared her reaction to the fantastic news via an Instagram post, revealing a personal challenge on the same day. She wrote about experiencing a "horrific migraine" alongside the joy of receiving her 12th and 13th Grammy nominations. From her "horizontal position in a darkened room," she expressed being "beyond grateful" for the recognition and highlighted the special honour of being nominated together with her collaborators, Alam and Sarathy.

The news has sparked celebrations back home, with many Indians expressing their joy on social media. Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram Story to congratulate Anoushka, calling it "Just queen energy. Congratulations."

Other Indian Contenders at the Grammys

Anoushka Shankar is not the only artist with Indian roots making waves at the 2026 Grammys. Composer Siddhant Bhatia has also entered the race thanks to his album 'Sounds of Kumbha', a twelve-track project that beautifully merges traditional devotional themes with modern musical arrangements.

Adding to the list of nominees is Charu Suri, an Indo-American jazz pianist and composer. Her work 'Shayan' has been nominated for the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album award.

The winners for the 68th Grammy Awards will be unveiled on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+.
