In a heartfelt and revealing conversation, Indian Idol 12 champion Pawandeep Rajan has finally broken his silence on the severe road accident that left him with critical injuries in May 2025. The singer, who was hospitalized for several weeks, shared the traumatic details and his ongoing recovery in a recent podcast appearance.
The Fateful Night: A Crash and a Rescue
The incident occurred on May 5, 2025, in the early hours of the morning. Pawandeep was en route to Delhi to catch a flight to Ahmedabad for a scheduled live performance. At around 3 AM near Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, his vehicle collided with a parked truck. The impact was devastating, and the car subsequently caught fire.
Recalling the terrifying moments, Pawandeep shared on the podcast with music composers Salim-Sulaiman, "Initially, no one was helping us, then the police arrived. The car had caught fire, and I was trapped inside. One of them managed to pull me out. I have no memory of how long I was in there, but I regained consciousness outside the vehicle." He was immediately rushed to a local government hospital before being transferred to a more advanced medical facility in the Delhi NCR region for specialized treatment.
A Long Road to Recovery: Multiple Surgeries and Rehabilitation
The singer sustained grave injuries that required multiple surgical interventions. His list of injuries included:
- A significant head injury.
- A major right-arm injury.
- Fractures in both legs.
"Both my legs and a hand were broken," Pawandeep stated. His first thought was to seek immediate medical aid. "I called home and asked my family to come. My only focus was on getting treated as soon as possible," he added.
The aftermath of the accident meant a long and painful period of immobility. "For the first month, I couldn't even move from side to side," he revealed. The experience gave him a profound appreciation for simple movements. "It made me realise the true value of being able to walk."
Finding Strength and Looking Ahead
Displaying remarkable resilience, Pawandeep has adopted a positive mindset. "When such incidents occur, you must accept them, move forward, and remain positive," he affirmed. His recovery, though gradual, has seen significant progress.
"Now I'm able to walk a little, which makes me happy. I've begun walking gradually, and I hope my mobility improves further in the coming month," the singer shared. He recounted how, even after flying to Mumbai, he was bedridden for another month. However, the determined artist has started reclaiming his life and passion. "Slowly, I've started walking and even playing the guitar again. My hand has regained some strength, but it still needs more healing," Pawandeep updated his fans.
He concluded on an optimistic note, assuring everyone that his condition has improved considerably from the critical state he was in immediately after the accident. His story stands as a testament to his courage and determination to return to the stage and his music.
