Despite their swift efforts, the doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival. The police were informed and an investigating officer reached the hospital. The officer confirmed that the singer's body was subsequently shifted to DDU Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police have recorded statements and confirmed that they do not suspect any foul play in his untimely death.

Another close friend, singer Mahesh Sewa, provided more details, stating that Tamang passed away around 9 am. "He was taken to the hospital by his family but the doctors declared him dead on arrival. I'm shocked by his untimely demise. I spoke to him a few days ago and he was hale and hearty," Sewa said.

Prashant Tamang's victory on the popular reality show Indian Idol 3 in 2007 catapulted him to fame, especially in the Nepali-speaking community and the hills of Darjeeling, where he was considered a local hero. His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of his fans and colleagues alike.
