Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson has launched a fierce and public attack on the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The singer revealed that her long-term partner has been barred from entering the US for six years, a situation she blames squarely on the controversial immigration body.
Viral Instagram Rant Targets ICE Policies
Larsson took to her Instagram stories over the weekend, sharing a series of posts that quickly went viral. In a passionate and unfiltered outburst, she listed her support for various groups before delivering a sharp condemnation. "I love immigrants, I love criminals, I love trans people, I love abortions, I love queers, I love slutty women, I love contraception, I love welfare, I love socialism, I f***ing hate ICE," she wrote.
When followers questioned her statement about "loving criminals," Larsson provided a personal explanation. She clarified that her life has been directly impacted by strict US immigration rules. According to reports from NME, she disclosed that her partner, Swedish dancer Lamin Holmén, has been unable to visit her in America throughout their entire six-year relationship.
The Reason: A Past Cannabis Conviction
The core of the issue, Larsson explained, is a past criminal record related to cannabis. "The reason why my sweet, smart, generous, talented, thoughtful man can’t come to the US – AT ALL – to visit me ever since we got together 6 years ago is because he has a criminal record," she stated. "Guess for what? WEED! Hahahahaha like?? Who gives a f**ing f**k?!?"
She further noted that Holmén's record has since been officially cleared due to the significant time elapsed since the incident. Despite this legal clearance, the US immigration ban remains firmly in place, preventing him from obtaining a visa.
Broader Criticism of Justice and ICE Actions
Larsson's criticism expanded beyond her personal case to target the wider US criminal justice and immigration systems. She argued that non-violent offenses often lead to imprisonment and that enforcement disproportionately targets minority communities. "It ends up being black and brown people" who face the most arrests, she claimed.
Her posts grew increasingly confrontational, drawing a direct comparison between ICE agents and criminals. "Idk about yall but I’d rather have someone smoking crack on my couch than a f**king ICE agent ewwwwwwwww," she wrote. "They’re criminals too. Killing, kidnapping, violent, hateful ones."
This outburst comes in the immediate aftermath of a fatal shooting in Minneapolis last week. Federal agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a prize-winning poet and mother, during an immigration enforcement operation. Ross claimed self-defense. Good was known for volunteering with neighborhood patrols that monitored ICE activity in the city.
Larsson is not alone in her condemnation. She joins a chorus of artists and celebrities, including Duran Duran, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, Joe Keery, and Billie Eilish, who have recently spoken out against alleged violence and practices associated with ICE.
