New OTT Releases Jan 2026: Netflix, Prime Video, ZEE5

The new year brings a fresh wave of entertainment to your screens. Starting from 2 January 2026, major over-the-top (OTT) platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and ZEE5 are rolling out a diverse slate of new films across multiple languages, including Hindi, English, Telugu, Spanish, and Japanese. This weekend's lineup promises powerful courtroom dramas, inspiring true stories, heartfelt family tales, and unique romantic narratives.

Major Bollywood & International Premieres

Leading the pack is the highly anticipated Hindi film Haq, now streaming on Netflix. Inspired by the landmark Shah Bano case, this courtroom drama delves into the contentious issue of instant triple talaq. The plot follows Shazia Bano, portrayed by Yami Gautam, who is abandoned by her husband after he marries his cousin and uses triple talaq against her. Her fight for justice for herself and her children forms the crux of the narrative. The film features a strong supporting cast including Emraan Hashmi, Sheeba Chaddha, Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, and Paridhi Sharma.

On Amazon Prime Video, global superstar Dwayne Johnson headlines The Smashing Machine, available for rent. This film is a biographical drama based on the true story of legendary UFC and martial arts fighter Mark Kerr. It explores his journey to fame, his immense dedication, and the personal costs that came with his legendary status. Emily Blunt plays Kerr's girlfriend, Dawn Staples, with Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten, and Oleksandr Usyk also featuring in key roles.

Diverse Stories Across Languages & Platforms

ZEE5 is premiering the Telugu film Beauty. This story centers on a college girl named Alekhya, played by Nilakhi Patra, who elopes with her boyfriend after their secret video calls are discovered by her mother. Her cab-driver father, portrayed by Naresh, embarks on a desperate search for her. Their journey becomes an exploration of family trust, innocence, and unexpected twists that test their bond. The cast also includes Ankith Koyya and Vasuki Anand.

International cinema is well represented this weekend. Netflix is adding the Japanese film After the Quake. This poignant narrative weaves together the lives of four strangers over three decades, as they navigate grief and hope in the aftermath of the 1995 Kobe earthquake, the 2011 earthquake, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The film stars Masaki Okada, Ai Hashimoto, Erika Karata, and Mitsuru Fukikoshi.

Another intriguing international release is the Spanish film Follow My Voice on Amazon Prime Video. The plot follows Klara, played by Berta Castane, who becomes homebound for 76 consecutive days due to a serious health crisis. During this isolation, she finds solace in her favorite radio show, "Follow My Voice." As she develops deep feelings for the host, Kang (Jae Woo Yang), she grapples with a compelling question: can you fall in love with someone you've only heard but never met? The cast includes Claudia Traisac, Fernando Guallar, Itziar Ituno, and Nuno Gallego.
