This Sunday, the Kolkata-based sibling duo Backstage Siblings — Prachi and Raghav — are all set to bring their signature blend of soulful bhajans and Bollywood chartbusters to Chennai. Their performance, scheduled at the RK Convention Centre, promises a high-energy evening filled with music and spontaneity.
Building the Set with Chennai in Mind
In an exclusive chat, the duo shared their approach to the performance. “We’ve built the set keeping Chennai’s energy in mind. Our focus is on giving the audience songs they can sing along to fully, with the right mix of Bollywood, bhajans, and spontaneous jamming moments,” they said.
The set was crafted with Chennai’s musical sensibilities at its core. “Chennai has a strong music culture, so the exciting part was putting together a set that feels familiar, high-energy, and still very Backstage Siblings. We want people to know the songs, but still feel surprised by how they come alive in a jam,” they explained.
The Rise of Bhajan Clubbing
The siblings are often credited as early voices in the “bhajan clubbing” space. They expressed joy in watching the movement grow. “When we started, the idea was simple: make bhajans feel more participative, not performative. Now, seeing so many people, especially younger audiences, connect with it feels very special. It proves that devotion does not have to be quiet to be real,” they remarked.
Bollywood and Bhajans: A Perfect Contrast
When asked about what excites them most about performing a combination of Bollywood and bhajans, they said, “The contrast is the best part. One minute everyone is singing a Bollywood hook, and the same crowd is fully immersed in a bhajan the next moment. It shows how music can shift the mood completely, without losing the connection.”
