Why Gujarati Dialogues Were Preserved in Hindi Version
In an exclusive conversation, actor Shruhad Goswami, who plays a pivotal role in the film, revealed the thoughtful reasoning behind maintaining Gujarati lines even in the Hindi release. According to Goswami, 'Laalo' is fundamentally connected to Gujarat, being both filmed in Gujarati and set in the historic city of Junagadh.
"We made this film in Gujarati and it's a story of Gujarat," Goswami explained. "The story is set in Junagadh, and we believed that fully changing the language would strip away the soul of the narrative."
The actor elaborated on their creative decision: "Our simple thought was that anyone watching this film – whether from Gujarat or elsewhere – should feel that if they visit Junagadh and interact with a rickshaw driver, they would hear the same authentic language used in our film."
Intentional Use of Gujarati Slang and Accent
Goswami emphasized that the inclusion of Gujarati slang was deliberate and purposeful. "That's why we have used Gujarati slang throughout the film," he stated. "This allows Hindi-speaking audiences to understand the dialogues while still experiencing the genuine Gujarati accent of Junagadh."
The actor summarized this approach by saying: "We kept Gujarati lines intentionally because this film transcends language barriers. It carries profound emotional depth that speaks louder than words."
Emotions Matter More Than Language Translation
Shruhad Goswami passionately believes that emotions require no translation. "Emotions communicate powerfully," he asserted. "They create genuine connections between the story and the audience, regardless of linguistic differences."
He further elaborated: "No matter what language you speak, the scenes in 'Laalo' convey messages that go beyond verbal communication. Emotions are universal, and that's why anyone can connect with this film, even without understanding every single word."

Careful Hindi Dubbing Process Preserves Gujarati Essence

"When we dubbed in Hindi, we ensured that while the language changed, the essence of Gujarati culture remained intact," Goswami explained. "We deliberately preserved the accent to maintain consistency and authenticity."
The actor concluded: "Our goal was to keep the film honest and true to its roots. It should feel like a genuine Gujarati film experience, which is why we made no other significant changes to the original presentation."
