The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday appointed acclaimed cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa as the president of the Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film and Television Institute in Taramani, Chennai. He succeeds Trotsky Marudu, who was appointed to the post by the DMK government in 2024.
Manoj Paramahamsa's Background
Paramahamsa has worked as a cinematographer in 25 films across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam industries. Notably, he collaborated with chief minister C Joseph Vijay on three films—Nanban, Beast, and Leo.
New Selection Committee for Undergraduate Courses
The government has also constituted a 10-member selection committee to enroll students for undergraduate courses in cinematography, audiography, screenplay writing and direction, film editing, animation, and visual effects. The committee includes prominent film industry figures such as directors Vetrimaran, Lingusamy, and Perarasu, cinematographers R Velrajan and Vijay Milton, and editor Srihar Prasad, among others.
