MM Keeravaani, Babul Supriyo Shine at Tagore Event in Hyderabad

Composer MM Keeravaani and singer-politician Babul Supriyo were the chief guests at a cultural evening celebrating the works of Rabindranath Tagore in Hyderabad. The event, hosted by SHOi - a Hyderabad Bengali Theatre Group and Jajabor Collective, featured performances and discussions highlighting Tagore's enduring influence.

Keeravaani's Tribute to Tagore

Keeravaani performed Tomarei Koriachhi Jiboner Dhrubatara, a Rabindra Sangeet by Tagore, calling it one of his favorite compositions by the poet. "I feel my life is enriched by watching Satyajit Ray’s films. After each film, I’ve also started reading his work," he said, reflecting on his engagement with Bengali culture. He added that Ray's films deepened his understanding of storytelling and artistic vision.

Impromptu Collaboration

The highlight of the show was an impromptu collaboration between Supriyo and Keeravaani, as they shared the stage for Ami Chini Go Chini Tomare. Supriyo revealed that Keeravaani reached out after learning he had sung the same composition in the film Kadambari (2015). "We decided on a surprise performance, with him on the piano and me singing Ami Chini Go Chini," Supriyo said, describing the composer’s effort to sing in Bengali as "special." He noted that while he has visited Hyderabad many times, this visit was different because of the unique experience of celebrating the three legends together.
