Nivin Pauly and Alphonse Puthren Announce New Film 'NP 50'
More than a decade after creating a cultural phenomenon with 'Premam', actor Nivin Pauly and filmmaker Alphonse Puthren are officially joining hands once again. The much-awaited project, tentatively titled 'NP 50', is all set to be launched on June 27 at a special event scheduled at Padma Theatre in Kochi. The announcement has generated considerable excitement among fans who have long hoped to see the duo collaborate again following the enduring popularity of their previous ventures.
Long-Standing Friendship and Creative Partnership
The association between Nivin and Alphonse goes far beyond cinema. Their friendship traces back to their teenage years, eventually evolving into a successful creative partnership. Before making waves in feature films, the two worked together on the romantic music video 'Nenjodu Cherthu', which gained significant attention online. Alphonse later cast Nivin as the lead in his directorial debut 'Neram', a film that established both of them as promising talents in Malayalam cinema and paved the way for the blockbuster success of 'Premam'.
Speculation Ends After Years of Rumours
According to Cinema Express, talk about a reunion between the actor and director had been circulating for several years, particularly after the disappointing box-office performance of Alphonse Puthren's 2022 film 'Gold', which featured Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. While several reports hinted at a possible collaboration, no official confirmation had emerged until now. The launch of 'NP 50' finally puts an end to the speculation and marks a fresh chapter in their professional journey.
Busy Line-Up for Nivin Pauly
Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly has a packed slate of upcoming releases. The actor recently completed filming for Girish AD's 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit', which is expected to arrive in theatres during the Onam festive season this year. He also has the long-delayed 'Dear Students', co-starring Nayanthara, awaiting release. In addition, Nivin is expanding his presence beyond Malayalam cinema with the Tamil project 'Benz', headlined by Raghava Lawrence.
Alphonse Puthren's Unfinished Project Before 'NP 50'
Following the release of 'Gold', Alphonse Puthren had announced another project titled 'Gift'. The film was planned with Sandy Master in the lead role and legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja handling the music. However, the project failed to move beyond the initial development stage and was eventually shelved. With 'NP 50' now moving forward, the director appears ready to make a strong comeback alongside one of his most successful collaborators.
