Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming movie 'Khalifa', directed by Vysakh, is currently in the shooting stage. Recently, the makers provided an update regarding the film as the actor's team unveiled its release date, which is set for the latter half of the year.
'Khalifa' Release Date
His official team, Poffactio, shared the news that the film will hit theatres on August 20, 2026, during the Onam festival. In the post, they wrote, 'Hey. Aamir Ali will see you in theatres on Aug 20th, 2026!'
In the comments, fans expressed their excitement for the project. One wrote, 'Expecting another banger from @jakes_bejoy,' while another added crossed fingers and a fire emoji.
'Khalifa' Film's Team
'Khalifa' is directed by Vysakh, with the story written by Jinu V. Abraham, who is also co-producing the film. The music is composed by Jakes Bejoy. Cinematography is handled by Jomon T. John, and editing is by Chaman Chakko.
The makers also shared another exciting idea: a prequel film is being planned with Mohanlal in the lead role. He may also appear in a small role in 'Khalifa'. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how both films connect.

Additionally, Prithviraj Sukumaran will play the main villain in SS Rajamouli's epic 'Varanasi', portraying the character Kumbha. He will lock horns with Mahesh Babu in this globetrotting film.
