CBFC Clears Three Films Uncut, Mutes 'Sex' and 'F**k' in Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day'
CBFC Mutes 'Sex' in Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day'

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted a clean pass to three major films releasing this week without demanding any cuts. The films that sailed through without any modifications are 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata', 'Haunted – Echoes Of The Past', and 'Backrooms'. However, the fourth film of the week, 'Disclosure Day', did not have an easy journey. It received its censor certificate at the last minute and had to undergo several cuts before getting the green light. This development was reported on June 10.

CBFC Mutes the Word 'Sex' in 'Disclosure Day'

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC made a specific alteration in a dialogue from the first act of the film, muting the word 'sex'. The scene in question features Daniel Kellner, played by Josh O'Connor, who discovers that his girlfriend Jane, portrayed by Eve Hewson, was once a nun. When Daniel asks her if she still follows the same religious vows and commitments, Jane responds by saying no, pointing out that the two of them have already had sex. It was precisely at this moment in the dialogue that the CBFC intervened and made the cut.

'Disclosure Day' Gets U/A 13+ Certificate After CBFC Mutes 'F**k' Twice

Apart from the word 'sex', the CBFC also muted 'f**k', which appeared twice in the film. Once all these changes were implemented and the required cuts were applied, 'Disclosure Day' was finally granted a U/A 13+ certificate on June 11. As per the details mentioned on the censor certificate, the total runtime of the film is 145 minutes and 36 seconds, which translates to 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 36 seconds. With its censor certificate now in place, the film is all set to reach audiences.

The duo has a long history of working together on some of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood, including 'Jurassic Park' (1993), 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' (1997), 'War of the Worlds' (2005), and 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' (2008). The film also marks a special milestone as it is iconic composer John Williams's 30th collaboration with Spielberg. The film boasts a stellar cast featuring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson. The story revolves around Daniel Kellner, a small-time reporter from Kansas City who is also a cybersecurity specialist. He and another character appear to be complete strangers, but they are brought together under mysterious circumstances at a time when the world is in utter chaos.

'Disclosure Day' Box Office: Film Opens at $27.6 Million Worldwide

On the box office front, the sci-fi film got off to a decent start, opening at $27.6 million worldwide. The film is expected to wrap up its opening weekend with a total collection of around $94 million globally. In India, the film made a fair start, with its opening day collections estimated to be in the range of Rs 1.75 crores to Rs 2 crores. Given that the film belongs to a niche genre and faces tough competition from both new releases and holdover films, the start can be considered reasonable and satisfactory.
